THE POSITION

A Climbing Instructor is responsible for instructing climbing clinics at VITAL Brooklyn. They will work directly under the Climbing Programs Manager (CPM) to teach clinics. Instructors will have the opportunity to teach group classes and work with private clients. All group classes will focus on learning, growth, and building connections.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Instruct at least 1 clinic per week

  • Establish and maintain a positive and supportive culture

  • Ensure the safety of clinic students at all times

  • Keep all necessary instructional certifications up to date

  • Stay informed on current and new training techniques

  • Meet with the CPM and Climbing Instruction Staff regularly to go over current progress and future goals for the program

  • Be a good role model for clinic students and representative of VITAL in and out of the gym

  • Follow all VITAL policies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience climbing indoors

  • Experience climbing outdoors preferred

  • Preferred minimum 1+ years climbing

  • Foundational knowledge of climbing training and technique

  • Active First Aid and CPR certification

  • Ability to engage with students in a positive, encouraging and uplifting way

  • Great teaching skills!
